NewTeeVee’s brief review of Adobe Flash performance on Google’s Nexus One running FroYo was very partial. This video shows NewTeeVee’s own review video running on a Nexus One in the Flash Player without any issues. What Kevin Tofel could have done is at least show that _some_ Flash video runs properly. He didn’t have to look very far – his own website has plenty. I have been watching the TWiT live stream (live.twit.tv) on my HTC Desire for a few weeks now without any issues. The internet connection used was a 1Mbps DSL line (read not broadband). Not all H.264 videos are created equal. FWIW, the iPhone does not play all H.264 MP4 files. They have to be specially crafted. It’s not just about resolution, it’s also about H.264 profiles.

blog.yafla.com I present this as a bit of a counterpoint to some of the negative Flash examples: Flash on mobile isn’t a revelation in mobile usage, but it’s an nice option to have when the need arises. As a long-time Flash critic (and not of the Follow-Steve-Jobs variety), I don’t cheer it on, but I do enjoy having the ability to utilize it where it is necessary. Sorry about the narrative audio quality — it’s from my webcam microphone. Editing was limited to ordering for time.
